I finally decided. I am going to forgo finishing my master's degree in AI at Stanford to start work at Google. After spending two summers as an intern at Google I couldn't imagine working for another company anywhere in the world. Google is the place to be right now!
They offered me two full-time jobs: Software Engineer or Associate Product Manager (APM). My decision wasn’t easy, but it came down to what is most important to me. Google’s biggest asset right now is their people. I want a people-person job, not a sit-behind-a-computer-and-code-all-day job. As an APM, I will have the best opportunity to work with the people at Google. I will also have a large impact on my project. My start date is set tentatively as August 7th.
According to the Google jobs website my responsibilities will include “working with engineers to define products, understanding user needs, researching markets and competitors, and strategizing future product directions.” This is the kind of job I can be excited about when I wake up in the morning.
Thanks to all the people that helped me make this decision: Avichal, Christian, Dae-Ho, Diana, Joe, Matt, and especially Pam and my family.
Dude. Congratulations!!! It will be great workign with you.
SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!
My two cents: I think you made a good choice :-)
Congratulations. This blog is the most up-to-date piece of web journalism I have ever seen. Bravo, bravo.
But seriously, congrats on the job. =)
So you've decided to use MoveableType and not Blogger for your blog ?
Yes, we have been using Movabletype since June 2003.
