I had considered registering “siroker.com” for the past couple of years but I put it off since I didn’t really have a decent webpage to publish. A couple of days ago I realized that this blog was probably as good as it was going to get, so I decided to register.
I shopped around and found Hostway the best for what I needed. They only charge me a measly $6.95 per year for registration of the Top Level Domain (TLD) and I do the rest. After registering, I spent a couple of days configuring a dedicated Windows 2003 Server to serve as both a web server and our domain name server. Currently, it is sitting in our garage right next to my brother’s game server.
As soon as I get my hands on the right software, I’ll be able to provide email addresses for anyone who is interested. In addition to basic POP3 and SMTP services, it will have web mail and the ability to get to your Microsoft Outlook contacts, tasks, and calendar from anywhere. If you would like to reserve <your name>@siroker.com, send me an email and I’ll make you an account.
If you have any questions about how I set up the server, or want help setting up your own web server, please post below.
This is only the first step to total world domination.
Just wait.
A long time.
